The story
Nestled in the hills of Shanxi province, Baidu's Yangquan Computing Center is the birthplace and supercomputing home of China's search engine giant and its ERNIE Bot large language model. Designed from the bedrock up for extreme efficiency, Yangquan achieved an annual PUE of 1.08 through zero-compressor cooling architectures and custom server rack designs. Today it trains massive deep learning foundation models across thousands of interconnected GPU clusters.
