The story

Originally built as a billion-dollar memory chip cleanroom fab for German semiconductor maker Qimonda, this colossal 1.3 million-square-foot fortress in White Oak Technology Park was acquired by QTS out of bankruptcy in 2010. QTS retrofitted the robust industrial infrastructure, capitalizing on heavy floor loads and an enormous 240 MVA on-site electrical substation. It became Virginia's subsea cable gateway, interconnecting the MAREA and BRUSA cables landing in Virginia Beach.
