The story
Outside Abilene in West Texas, climate-aligned compute operator Crusoe Energy and infrastructure developer Lancium partnered in 2024 to build a 1.2-gigawatt AI supercomputing campus. Backed by a $3.4 billion financing facility from Blue Owl Capital, the purpose-built 'AI factory' features high-density liquid-to-chip cooling loops designed for next-generation GPU server racks consuming up to 100 kW per cabinet. Positioned to capitalize on West Texas' abundant wind and solar resources on the ERCOT grid, Stargate was selected as a key infrastructure base for Oracle and OpenAI workloads.
