A Hyperview alternative for small data centers
Last checked against the vendors' public pages · sources below
Hyperview is cloud DCIM priced at $3 per asset per year with a 500-asset minimum ($1,500 a year) and a free 30-day trial; its base plan lists asset management, capacity planning, power monitoring and 2D/3D visualisation, with cabling as a $2-per-asset add-on. DC Sim is a different kind of tool: a data center simulator that turns an Excel file, NetBox or Zabbix into a 3D twin and lets you fail any power, cooling or network node to see what goes dark. Choose Hyperview for DCIM and monitoring, DC Sim for what-if and design, or run both.
At a glance
| Hyperview (as listed on its pricing page) | DC Sim | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Cloud DCIM | Browser-based data center simulator and 3D twin |
| Price | $3 per asset per year, 500-asset minimum ($1,500) | Monitor $5 per rack per month ($49 minimum); Design $490–3,900 one-time per project |
| Trial | Free 30-day trial, no credit card | Walkthrough on your own file; Excel template free |
| Asset management, capacity planning | Included in the base plan | Inventory from your sheet, NetBox or Zabbix; no asset or change workflows |
| Power monitoring | Included in the base plan | Reads Zabbix directly and any tool’s readings export; no own sensors |
| 3D | 2D and 3D visualisations | 3D twin with Floor, Air, Water, Fire, Power, Cabling, Network, Device and Token layers |
| Cabling | Connectivity add-on, $2 per asset per year | Cabling layer with end-to-end trace from the Cables sheet |
| Failure what-if | Not listed on the pricing page | Fail any UPS, feed, breaker, switch, cooling unit or manifold; dark, one-feed and overloaded lists; estimated minutes to 27, 32, 35 °C |
| Design before the room exists | Not listed on the pricing page | Design mode with U, weight, breaker and cooling checks |
| Tokens per kWh | Not listed on the pricing page | Token layer per server and rack |
Cost at list price
| Racks (15 devices each) | Hyperview base | Hyperview with Connectivity | DC Sim Monitor |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 (160 assets) | $1,500 (minimum) | $2,500 | $600 |
| 20 (320 assets) | $1,500 (minimum) | $2,500 | $1,200 |
| 50 (800 assets) | $2,400 | $4,000 | $3,000 |
Connectivity is charged on the billed assets (500 at the minimum). DC Sim Design is one-time per project if you also plan a new room.
When Hyperview is the better fit
- You need DCIM: asset records, capacity planning and power monitoring in one cloud service, with a self-serve trial.
- You want sensor and device monitoring included rather than read from another tool.
When DC Sim is the better fit
- Your question is what fails with what: a UPS, a feed, a cooling unit or a leak, and which racks and services go with it.
- You are designing a room or a new row and want the checks before anyone orders hardware.
- You run an AI room and want tokens per kWh per server next to the power chain.
- You want to start from a spreadsheet you already have.
Using both
DC Sim is built to sit on top of the tools you run. Export inventory and readings from your DCIM, fill the template sheets, and import: the room appears in 3D with its checks, and every failure you simulate uses your data. There is no direct Hyperview connector.

What does Hyperview cost?
Hyperview publishes $3 per asset per year with a 500-asset minimum ($1,500 a year), Connectivity (cabling) at $2 per asset per year and other add-ons, and a free 30-day trial (checked 15 October 2026).
Is DC Sim a replacement for Hyperview?
Only if what you need is a 3D model and failure what-ifs rather than DCIM. DC Sim does not manage asset records or change workflows and has no sensors of its own; it reads inventory and monitoring you already have.
Which is cheaper for a 20-rack room?
At list price, Hyperview's minimum is $1,500 a year (or $2,500 with Connectivity at the minimum); DC Sim Monitor for 20 racks is $1,200 a year. They buy different things, so compare on the job you need done.
Can I use DC Sim with Hyperview?
Yes, through the template sheets: export your inventory and readings, and import them into DC Sim. A direct Hyperview connector does not exist.
